The Amazing Provence
Provence is an exceptional land appreciate by the beauty of its landscapes, its authenticity and the quality of its lifestyle. The Blue Riviera
Saint-Tropez is one of the international Jet Set’s favourite haunts and a resort for tourists in search of a little Provencal authenticity and an occasional celebrity sighting. Paul Signac discovered this place in 1892 and inspired painters like Matisse, Pierre Bonnard or Albert Marquet to come to Saint-Tropez. Saint-Tropez emerged the painting of Pointillism and Fauvism.
Saint-Tropez was the first village on the Mediterranean coast to be liberated during World War II. After the war, it became an internationally-known seaside resort, renowned principally because of the influx of artists of the French New Wave in cinema and the Yéyé movment in music. The show business people, artists, painters (Picasso), writers (Prévert) fell under the spell of this charming little port in the 1950’s. With the arrival of Brigitte Bardot in the 60’s, the myth of Saint-Tropez was installed for good.
On top of enjoying the beauties of the nature of Saint-Tropez and especially the beauty of its beaches (Nikki Beach, Pampelonne Beach, Salins Beach…), you shall discover the authentic charm of its picturesque houses, small streets, its famous square des Lices where the bowls parties are endless, its Citadel, the famous museum Annonciade, and the amazing butterfly house.
You shall take a small break in a teahouse on the Square des Lices to savor a exquisite pie “la tropézienne”. It is a delight that you never get tired ! And for even more authenticity, you shall take a break and enjoy a gourmet picnic in the countryside savoring a delicious rosé.
You shall discover too the small port of Saint-Tropez where racing yachts, luxury yachts and traditionnal “pointus” of fishermen mingle, and enjoy a drink at Sénéquier, one of the most popular terraces of Saint-Tropez, made famous by Brigitte Bardot, Colette and more recently by Karl Lagerfeld, Miles Davis or the french President Jacques Chirac.
The nightlife in Saint-Tropez is one of the greatest on French Riviera. Saint-Tropez parties continue until the sun rises. After dinner, you shall walk to Les Caves du Roy (within Hotel Byblos) or Papagayo where glamour, bubbles and celebrities get together.
For a charming stay, you shall choose from a multitude of refined and luxurious hotels with beautiful and privileged view over the Bay of Saint-Tropez (La Réserve Ramatuelle, the famous Byblos, Sezz, Château de la Messadière…).
